Bed Buying Tips
The best time to try mattresses is in the morning because the body is refreshed. A tired body will find almost any mattresses comfortable, whereas a refreshed body will help indicate a more appropriate purchasing decision.
- Foam mattresses generally sleep warmer than pocket sprung mattresses
- If you sleep on your side you may wish to consider a slatted base with softer or adjustable slats in the shoulder area for greater flexibility and comfort
- Twin mattresses generally produce a better nights sleep for both partners than a single wider mattress. Most research shows that a disturbed nights sleep is often caused by one partners movement being transmitted through the mattress to their partner. Separate slatted bases and mattresses help to prevent this from occurring
- Buy the widest bed your room will allow. The more mattress space a person has generally the better they will sleep
- Don’t forget to take the actual width and length of the bed frame into consideration as well as the width and length of the mattresses
- If space is at a premium it may be worth considering the use of one of the bed frames with inbuilt lighting
- If space is at a premium the Boxsprung range of beds are worth considering as they have no external fame to add to the mattress width
