Wardrobe Planning Tips

  • Double short hanging (with one hanging rail fixed above another) in a wardrobe is useful for hanging shorter items because it makes the best possible use of the space available
  • Short hanging or shelving above drawers is also worth considering as is short hanging below shelves
  • Shaped end wardrobes can “soften” the appearance of a run of wardrobes, for example next to a room entrance or in a window area
  • Reduced depth wardrobes generally do not allow clothes to hang from left to right. However a pull-out “trombone rail” can be specified to allow for items to hang from back to front
  • Wardrobes with a pair of left and right-hand folding-doors allow you to see the contents of both wardrobes at the same time
  • Mirrors on the central doors of a pair of left and right folding-door wardrobes allow when open for a front and back view of the clothes being modelled
  • A pull out hanging rail fitted between two wardrobes allows for the temporary hanging of items ready for the following day or whilst mixing and matching an outfit
  • Lighting used on wardrobe cornices can help to brighten dark areas in a room and provide theme mood lighting
  • Internal lighting can be specified if the general lighting level is low
  • Wardrobes are most effectively used for hanging clothes. If drawers are required it may be practical to position drawer units elsewhere in the room
